Shapes and sizes: the versatility of tables that extend
Expandable tables, usually found in smaller kitchens or dining rooms, often have a rectangular shape. Long and narrow living room tables, that can be extended to provide more seating, are very sought-after, because they retain an imposing appearance even closed and are intuitive and easy to open, thanks to two sliding extending mechanisms.
There are, however, tops with less conventional shapes for those who do not want to renounce to a strong design and personality in the name of practicality and versatility. To satisfy this need we have included in our collection extending tables with square, round, or barrel-shaped tops. Other types of extensions come then into play: in addition to the classic pull-out models with extension slides, also present in some non-rectangular models, there are folding extensions, which can be extracted once the top has been extended outwards and placed on the space thus created. The quality of these mechanisms makes it possible to have extension leaves in delicate materials such as glass, ceramic or laminam, with reduced thicknesses but high resistance even if frequently used.
Regardless of the shape of the table top, the extension system can provide one, two or even three supplementary leaves to significantly increase the length of a small table. This allows tables of only 130, 140 or 160 cm to expand to two or even to almost three metres. With a simple movement, thanks to intuitive and high-quality mechanisms, a 4-person table can accommodate 8, while a 6-seater table top can double in size to accommodate 12 people.
