Description

Hystrix by Cattelan is a table with a base made up of steel bars (reinforcing bars) that shows a contemporary design suitable for modern interiors. The clear glass top, which is available in the rectangular or shaped models, rests on the base and is marked by inversely bevelled edges.
Hystrix is characterised by eye-catching original design; the main trait is the base that is made up of reinforcing steel bars that are put one next to the other to create a base of curved legs. The steel of legs is finished with a clear paint in order to maintain the rough and industrial effect of the material; a contemporary design table for modern living room.

Technical study

Extra-clear glass: Clear glass shows a light blue - green colour like most glass, while extra-clear glass is treated so that such a blue-green effect is considerably dimmed and can't really influence or change the colour of the objects that can been seen by looking through the table top, like for example a carpet, some chairs and the very structure of the table.

Bevelling: is a crafting technique made on mirrors and glasses and consists in finishing and smoothing the sharp edges of these surfaces in order to create an outline with a variable width ranging from 10 to 40 mm and with an angle less than 90°(usually of 7°). It is a delicate and valuable technique used upon mirrors and extremely valuable tops.
For Hystrix table, the bevelling is reverse and it is carried out on the bottom part of the table. The long sides have the tilted edge pointing downwards, while short sides have the tilted edge pointing upwards.
