Living Room Project 210125
Customer request
We are designing the interiors of a majestic villa set in the mountains surrounding Lake Como, a dream hidden for a long time in the drawer that is finally becoming reality. The rooms are very bright, the living room in particular is characterised by large windows that offer such striking views that they look like landscape paintings.
From the living area there is direct access to the outdoor area with the swimming pool through a large sliding window, an easy solution for enjoying the sunny days of the warmer months.
For our living room and dining area we would like to maintain the modern style adopted in the other rooms, we want to enhance the natural light and bring the seasons of the year into the house. We prefer modern, elegant furniture with square, strict lines. We like colour contrasts and bold colours. We would like a large corner sofa to be able to accommodate relatives and friends. For the same reason, we would like to receive a furnishing plan that also includes a dining area where a marble-topped table can seat at least 6 people.
Interior Designer's Comments
As requested, our interior decorators came up with an ambitious project with original ideas for furnishing the living area of this recent construction overlooking Lake Como. In the large available space, it was not easy to find the best of many possible furnishing solutions. However, taking into account the client's requirements to have a home that could also allow the seasons of the year and their colours to be experienced inside the house, our Interior Designers kept as a fixed point in designing the living area the express desire to enhance the natural light and the views of the mountain landscapes surrounding the lake.
The living room in this villa is the heart of the house: with its no less than 45 square metres, it overlooks the pool area through large windows that illuminate it abundantly, welcoming and bringing inside the positive energy of the landscape. On the opposite side, an elegant open dining area connects the living room with the kitchen.
Living room and entrance area, on the other hand, are separated by a winter garden that recalls the connection with the lush nature surrounding the house and elegantly hides the living room from the entrance area.
In the living room, the sofa is the undisputed star. The configuration of the room did not pose any major structural limitations, but the clients' need for conviviality made it inevitable to place this complement in the centre of the living room. For the same reason, a corner model was chosen to accommodate several people during an aperitif with friends or a family lunch. The cream-coloured fabric upholstery matching the removable back cushions contrasts with the beige and brown decorative cushions. The preponderant element of this furniture, however, is the Fashion Wood oak bookcase, matching the finish of the server element, where books and magazines can be stored for reading in the evening.
To the side of the sofa, a Lord leather armchair with headrest and lumbar support accessories completes the relaxation area, proving to be perfect for spending evenings in company as well as those dedicated to reading. Note the particular Wengè-stained ash wood base that echoes the colours of the bookcase fixed to the back of the sofa.
In the centre of the living room, a coffee table with a rectangular shaped top 160 cm long in smoked glass with heat-treated oak legs completes the relaxation area. The glass top allows one to appreciate in its entirety the contrasting patterns that decorate the carpet chosen in beige to perfectly complete this relaxation and conversation area.
In front of the sofa, a made-to-measure wall unit has been designed to the centimetre, occupying the entire surface of the wall, both in height and length. On the right the furniture is set against the wall, while on the left sufficient space has been left for the opening of the fixtures and the sliding of the curtains.
This wall with boiserie panels includes hanging shelves of different lengths, an elegant and original solution capable of giving a sense of movement to the entire living room area. The lower part, on the other hand, is occupied by a storage unit with drawers where everything that needs to be kept within reach in the living room can be stored.
The central space is occupied by a television fixed to the modular paneling where one can watch films in the company of the whole family. On the right-hand side, on the other hand, there is a glass cabinet with a shelf where photographs and cherished memories can be displayed in the living room. The interior lighting then further emphasises the objects stored behind the glass doors.
To the side of the living area, between the sofa, the kitchen and the large glass windows offering a breathtaking view of the lake, is the dining area where an elegant table with a shaped top in Emperador Light marble has been placed. A design and at the same time functional accessory for hosting dinners with friends and family, which, with a length of 200 x 100 cm, can in fact seat 6-8 people. The designer base in heat-treated oak catches the eye with its dynamic, three-dimensional shapes that give a sense of movement to the dining area.
Matching the table are armless upholstered armchairs with solid ash legs covered in orange leather, like the stools in the kitchen, and contrasting with the muted colours of the living room. A carpet with similar geometries to the one proposed in front of the sofa completes the area between the living room and the kitchen, increasing the sense of refinement perceived in every corner of the villa.
Arriving at the end of the project, the clients clearly expressed the wish to decorate the wall left uncovered next to the table with something that would be useful in the living room. The choice therefore fell on a two-coloured hanging three-door sideboard with fronts and sides in Fashion Wood Carbone oak, which matches the boiserie behind the television, and with the rest of the structure in contrasting Juta lacquer. A complement where to store services of plates and glasses for special occasions, which plays with the asymmetries of the doors to increase the dynamism of the room. Note the open compartment with glass shelf and internal lighting, capable of creating an evocative and precious atmosphere near the dining table.
To complete a chic and stately ambience, our Interior Designers decided to place a pendant lamp with 8 glass diffusers in different colours above the table. A solution that catches the eye for its refinement, originality and that lightens the imposing presence of the marble.
