The stained beechwood finish is made with a pass-through varnish that leaves the wood grain visible; the colour is desaturated compared to the open-pore lacquer, which instead has a solid colour. The colour reference is indicative, as the varnish can take on different shades depending on how it is absorbed by the underlying wood grain and can therefore be fuller or more veiled.
