Customer Request
We would like a furniture design for our living room. We would like to use it as a relaxation area to rest, read a book, talk and entertain our guests without distractions. We prefer not to have a television in this room but a bookcase for a few books and decor items is essential. We would also like to create a bar corner with armchairs, comfortable for reading and enjoying something to drink.
The living room is very large with a sloping ceiling with exposed beams, large corner windows, a fireplace in the centre of the longest wall covered in matte ceramic, with light knotted oak wood parquet floor.
We prefer neutral and light colours but we are also willing to include some touches of accent colours.
Interior Designer's Comments
To create this living room project the interior designers at diotti.com started from the state of the room. The room to be furnished is a sitting room of nearly 29 square meters of rectangular shape with long walls of 6.38 m and short walls of 4.52 m. One short wall is almost entirely occupied by a large window that continues partly on the adjacent wall, thus furnishing the corner as well. Continuing on, in the middle of the long wall is a fireplace built into the wall with a large decorative frame in dark matte ceramic. On the opposite wall are two doors leading to the other rooms. The walls are white, the ceiling is sloping with variable height, is painted white with exposed black wooden beams, floor and skirting are light knotted oak wood.
Considering the configuration of the room, structural constraints and the social needs of the clients, the best positioning for the sofa was found to be in the centre of the room. In front of the door and windows, next to the fireplace and detached from all walls. A 290 cm linear sofa with 170 cm deep chaise longue, in light beige fabric, with matte pearl gold metal sled feet was chosen. The upholstered model that was chosen is noted for its thin, decorative curved armrests and a base with metal legs that lift it off the ground. Colourful decorative cushions complete the aesthetics and comfort of this furniture.
In front of the sofa are two small armchairs with high wraparound backs and generously sized cosy seats in light and dark two-tone tight fabric that matches the sofa and the remaining colours in the room. These are modern swivel armchairs that are very comfortable in moments of relaxation and conversation.
With the aim of providing as many seats as possible, round ottomans cm Ø42 h.42 in yellow and green velvet were added. These ottomans can be moved to the occasion, depending on the number of guests and the needs of the moment.
In the centre of the relaxation area, serving all these seats is a set of four round coffee tables of different sizes and different finishes for the round top. Coffee table cm Ø100 h.28 with top in Keramik stone polished Portoro marble. Coffee table cm Ø60 h.38 in Canaletto walnut. Coffee table cm Ø60 h.38 and coffee table cm Ø60 h.48 in stone Keramic marble Makalu. The structure is in a brushed Bronze painted metal.
A rectangular carpet with geometric decoration perfectly completes this relaxing area. Chosen in neutral tones, it warms up the room without stealing the scene from the upholstered furniture.
The centrepiece of this modern and elegant living room is precisely the upholstered furniture, arranged in a way that encourages relaxation and interaction among all people. Different models of upholstered furniture, chosen from several leading collections in our catalogue, in different shapes and colours. The Clients greatly appreciated this contrast of styles and colours, recognizing a modern and convivial touch that was well suited to their home and the intended use of this living room.
To complete this living room project with ideas and solutions for furnishing the conversation area, two pieces of furniture requested by the Clients were provided: a bookcase and a bar cabinet.
After designing several configurations, a modular bookcase 256 cm high and 222.2 cm wide positioned in the centre of the wall was chosen. Asymmetrically designed bookcase, made entirely of Canaletto walnut wood, with staggered shelves; some compartments have been closed at the back with matching panels that enliven the composition.
The modern sideboard for use as a bar cabinet that has been chosen has measurements 90 cm d.46 h.145, in black matte lacquer with decorative "U" engravings on the fronts and base in gold-coloured metallic lacquer. It is equipped with two smoked glass shelves and two drawers for storing glasses, bottles and items such as corkscrews, coasters and napkins. The interior is illuminated with two vertical bars of LED lights that turn on automatically when the doors are opened.
Everything about the project has been taken care of in detail with the aim of designing a living room that would meet the needs and tastes of clients. Space organization, furniture features, colours and style combinations; all in the service of the owners' relaxation and sharing with their guests.
