Project Apartment 221024
Client request
I am in the process of renovating a house of approximately 82 square metres and would like to rely on your interior decorators and architects for a complete project for the flat, which should include partitioning the interior floorboards, preparing the installations, and choosing and installing the furniture.
I would like to clearly divide the living and sleeping areas, making two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the future, I would like to rent out this space, which is why I would prefer furniture in neutral tones, furniture with regular lines and not too particular, practical and functional furniture with a look that can satisfy different aesthetic tastes over time.
Interior Designer's Comments
The client purchased the consultancy and design service, which guarantees a complete home project that is very useful during renovation. We started with an analysis of the initial state of the house and the partition of the more than 80 square metres. Reasoning was done on the best internal subdivision and the raising of walls, all while respecting the structural constraints already in place. At the end of this phase, the plan of the house proposed an open-plan living area of 36 square metres, a hallway of 8 square metres, a single bedroom of 14 square metres, a bathroom of 5 and more square metres, and a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom of almost 20 square metres.
Having defined the rooms, we then moved on to the selection of the furnishings with the clear objective of renovating by making the most of every available inch with capacious furniture, a versatile look, and fine details. Various considerations were made that led to the choice of modular and made-to-measure furniture made in Italy with quality materials, practical to clean and capable of remaining intact over time so as to eventually be used by more than one tenant in the home.
For the living area, the furnishing choices fell on: a U-shaped corner kitchen with a peninsula counter served by stools, a round table with chairs, a linear sofa with pouf, an equipped wall with space for a hanging TV, and an entrance console adjacent to the entrance door.
The made-to-measure kitchen has been created in the form of a horseshoe, complete with work and storage areas. Elements and details of the composition to be noted: hood and exhaust pipe concealed in the wall units above the induction hob, corner base units with pull-out and sliding shelf system, two-bowl steel under-top sink, grooved handles, back panel in the same material and colour as the top. On one side of the composition there are cupboard columns for appliances such as refrigerator, freezer, oven and microwave, and a pantry column, and here the closing element is an open end unit with shelves for visible objects. On the opposite side of the composition, on the side adjacent to the entrance door, there is an open half-column with shelves and a wine cellar. The spotlight system and suspended lamps fixed to the ceiling by means of an ad hoc recess illuminate the work area, creating lighting effects and vertical plays.
On the opposite wall of the living room there is a modular wall unit made up of four suspended base units joined by a single long top, a vertical wall unit positioned adjacent to the top, four wooden shelves that connect the wall unit to a floor-standing storage column. The height of this column is studied to the millimetre to be positioned perfectly below a ceiling drop. Above the base units there is ample free space for the television, which can be wall-hung or placed on the base units themselves.
The hallway between the living and sleeping area was created as a passageway and is also used as a storage area. Here there is a system of made-to-measure wardrobes on two sides, organised internally with hanging tubes, shelves and even a laundry column that makes space for a washing machine and dryer. These cupboards prove to be an excellent solution for increasing the storage space in the home.
From the corridor there is direct access to the main bathroom of the house, a blind bathroom without a window complete with everything you need. Sanitary ware, a shower and a bathroom cabinet with a shelf and washbasin all out, two drawers, a wall-mounted cabinet, shelves and a large horizontal mirror with LED light.
The design of this 82 square metre house continued with the design of the master suite; the master bedroom is served by an en suite bathroom with French doors. This second bathroom is also complete with sanitary fittings, shower cubicle and bathroom cabinet with storage elements and mirror.
The room is furnished with a double bed with wall paneling, two bedside tables with two drawers, a three-drawer chest of drawers and a four-door wardrobe. The standard size of the room and the proximity of the wardrobe/bedside table/bed led to the choice of a sliding wardrobe with wooden side doors and glass centre doors.
The furnishing design of the sleeping area continued with the custom-made furniture for the single bedroom. It was decided to furnish this room with a single bed served by a bedside table with two drawers, a wardrobe with 4 hinged doors and an organised study/work corner. A back wall provides the backdrop for this work area equipped with a desk, shelves of various lengths, a storage shelf and a wall unit with doors.
The colours chosen for the furnishing of this modern flat see a predominance of white which, for some elements, veers towards beige. This neutral colour has been enlivened by touches of brown and light blue chosen for some accent walls and accessories. Light blue is proposed in the Sugar Paper shade and has been chosen for the living room chairs, decorative sofa cushions, bedroom chair, bed linen and carpets. The master bedroom also has an entire wall painted in this colour.
Brown, on the other hand, was chosen in the Cookie shade as the backdrop for the wall unit. Other furnishings and details were then chosen in dark brown wood and contribute to making all the rooms look even more elegant and well-kept. Overall, the colour palette of this house is very pleasant: neutral and delicate shades, versatile and with character.
Once all the characteristics of the furniture had been defined and approved, the consultancy continued with the ordering procedures for all the custom-made furniture, the management of shipments with couriers specialised in the transport and handling of furniture, the assembly of the furniture carried out by a team of diotti.com fitters, and finally with the guarantee of an after-sales service.
