Flat Project no. 050923

Client's Request

We have purchased a house in a building under construction in the Milan hinterland. It is an 80-square-meter flat all on one floor to be completely furnished, and for this we would like to rely on your consulting and design service and the experience of your interior designers. The house consists of entrance hall, living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. The front door opens to an entrance area with direct access to a bedroom and a hallway with a bathroom; we then continue to a single room that we would like to turn into an open space with living room and kitchen together, and from here a small hallway leads to a bedroom with en-suite bathroom that we would like to make our master bedroom. We would like a complete interior design project with ideas and furnishings for the house, except for the second bedroom which we currently prefer not to furnish and the second bathroom which is already partially furnished. We like modern and contemporary style, we like elegant furniture and careful details, we like colour and we do not exclude the purchase of furniture and accessories with an original touch.

The Interior Designer's Comment

Newly built flat and Clients who relied on our experience, knowing that they could count on an extensive catalogue of custom-made furniture. Realizing the project for a modern, elegant and colourful 80-square-meter flat was a challenge that we were happy to take on and complete.
We chose custom furniture according to the space available and the clients' requests. It is important to make the best use of the space by finding the right arrangement to all the furniture, without getting in the way and without weighing down the room. All this is done by playing with colours, while not overdoing it.

Rectangular plan living area, very bright thanks to two French doors and a window overlooking the private garden, with recesses in the wall creating a kind of niche. This is the actual state of the open space.
We evaluated different furniture arrangements until we arrived at the final solution and approved by the clients. The structural elements acted as a constraint on the placement of the kitchen, which gained the entire wider wall. On the opposite side, the niche serves as a backdrop for a custom-made storage unit that could also be used as a bar cabinet; consisting of two pantry columns, hanging chest for items to be kept out of sight, and shelves to display silverware and knick-knacks. The space in the centre of the open space was reserved for a table, sofa, TV cabinet.
A linear sofa in green velvet cm 244 with a sliding backrest with adjustable depth and sled feet was chosen. The low back makes it perfect to be placed on a wall with a window, the manually adjustable depth allows the seating comfort to be varied according to the occasion of use, without being in the way when not in use. The TV area is organised with a wall panel with a backlit flat TV set, underneath a suspended storage base with push-pull tilt door 192 cm long and organised internally into three compartments. Finally, the dining area characterised by a Ø 140 cm fixed round table in Noir Desir polished ceramic stone with brass metal legs and four fuchsia pink velvet chairs with bronze painted metal frame and legs.
In this space, colour has been skilfully dosed, adding spots here and there in the furnishings and accessories: green, pink, magenta red, yellow.

The kitchen chosen is a custom-made composition belonging to one of diotti.com's flagship collections. Modern linear kitchen with refrigerator and freezer column and column with built-in oven; in between storage cabinets, top with 67 cm matte black undermount sink and work area, wall units of reduced depth that enliven the overall appearance of the composition. The kitchen has a double-sided island with a 60-cm-deep cooking and snack area that features drawers and doors on one side and space for two stools on the other. The Clients chose an induction cook top with a decorative hood that hangs from the ceiling. The chosen finishes are a combination of Noir Desir glossy laminam stone, Mink-coloured matt lacquer, and dark oak wood. Colours also partly taken up in the remaining furnishings, particularly in the TV area and the storage wall unit.
In this space, colour has been skilfully dosed, adding spots here and there in the furnishings and accessories: green, pink, magenta red, yellow.

The open space leads directly to the master bedroom area, which turns out to be a modest suite with a walk-through wardrobe, bed and storage, study corner, and bathroom for two. It was decided to transform the short corridor that leads from the living room to the actual room into the wardrobe area. Here, two made-to-measure wardrobes with hinged doors in reflective stop-sol mirrored glass were inserted, one parallel to the other, acting as a walk-in wardrobe. Opting for this solution, the recess in the room initially conceived as a wardrobe space was used as a small home office corner organised with a shelf for use as a desk, an office chair with wheels and a two-drawer chest of drawers with wheels.

The sleeping area was the room where colour came out on top: blue, pink and gold amalgamate and complement each other in a perfect balance. A double storage bed with a simple lift-up system, in blue fabric with light blue/grey fabric edging, with matt black cylindrical high feet. The headboard has two shaped side wings that can be adjusted as desired, alongside bedside tables chosen in a matt lacquered pink Azalea hanging drawer version. At the foot of the bed is a matt lacquered three-drawer chest of drawers matching the bedside tables, complete with a blue lacquered open element. The space is embellished by two design lamps suspended in the shape of a long cylinder that hang discreetly from the ceiling and illuminate the headboard area.
All these furnishings follow the trait d'union of the entire room, including the wallpaper in shades of blue and gold which, with its geometric pattern, creates atmosphere and adds character.
From the sleeping area one goes directly to the master bathroom with a shower serving this room exclusively. To furnish this space, a wall-mounted bathroom unit with wood-effect fronts and slim handle, a resin-effect melamine top, and two round countertop washbasins in glossy white ceramic with a black mixer tap have been chosen. Two vertical oval mirrors complete the washbasin area, contributing to brightness and visually increasing the space of this narrow bathroom.

In the project we included the design and choice of furniture for the entrance area and laundry area. To furnish and make the entrance area functional, we chose to include a two-door coat wardrobe equipped internally with hanging tubes and shelves, alongside a hanging deep drawer to be used as a pocket emptier and a decorative mirror. All this furniture was chosen in a light chalk white/dove grey colour.
The hallway leading to the second bathroom has been used as a laundry area, equipped with a washing machine and dryer column with shelves for household cleaning products. This made-to-measure solution was also customised according to the available space and the clients' needs.

During the realisation of the project, a lighting system with LED strips and spotlights positioned in the plasterboard ceiling was planned. A detail that contributes to giving character and style to the 80 square metres of this modern flat.
